“Ever dreamed of what it would be like to hover? Maybe you’ve got the right stuff.”

Prior to your introductory flight, we’ll give you an overview of ground school to help you understand the basic principles of helicopter flight, flight control operation and most importantly the proper safety procedures while in and around the helicopter.

Once airborne, you’ll have the opportunity to operate the flight controls and personally fly the helicopter. Expect to experience straight and level flying, climbs, turns and even hovering. We’ll give you an exciting taste of what its like to fly a helicopter, whether your goal is to fly as a hobby, career pilot or add to your fixed-wing certifications. It all starts here.

THINK YOU’RE READY?

“Flight training is our primary business and we take it seriously.”

Whether you want to pursue your goals full-time or part-time, our Flight Instructors work with your schedule in mind. All flight and ground instruction is accomplished through private tutoring for an efficient scheduling and learning environment.

The Academy gives they career-minded student experience in a variety of helicopters while you acquire your Private, Instrument, Commercial, Flight Instructor and Flight Instructor Licenses.

We take you from zero flight time to certification to teaching others to fly in as little as 10 months. When you join The Academy, you join a group of students who have chosen to dedicate themselves to a career as a professional helicopter pilot.

Experience in the Robinson R44 has become an unwritten requirement for many first time Flight Instructor positions. Many schools offer tine in the R44 as an add-on to their program. At The Academy, time in the Robinson R44 is part of the program. We are committed to giving you more experience for less money.

We’ve been providing top-notch pilot training for this seeking FAA certification for over 15 years.

Midwest Helicopter is the oldest and largest helicopter and flight school in our area. Whether you are seeking Private, Commercial, Instrument of ATP-rated helicopter certification, we can provide it. We prepare pilots to earn their Certified Helicopter Flight Instructor (DFI) and Instrument Flight Instructor (CFII) ratings.

THINK YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

“No previous helicopter experience is required to start working towards your certification.”

Looking for a unique challenge or to fulfill your dream of flying?

Imagine taking your significant other or a friend on a flight when you’re a pilot just six months from now. Our Flight Instructors will accommodate your schedule whether it’s early morning, after work or on the weekends. We understand that your day job pays for the fun! The most conscientious pilots we’ve trained are the ones who have the ability to rent a helicopter once they have acquired their Private-Pilot’s License.

THINK YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

“Earn your degree and learn to fly. Let your career take flight.”

Our partnership with St. Louis University and Southwestern Illinois College allow you to complete a one year helicopter training program while earning your undergraduate degree.

These institutions offer a series of courses designed to prepare students for FAA certification to fly helicopters. You can earn your degree and train to become a professional helicopter pilot at the same time.

Prepare for your future while you get your wings.
